Security & Privacy

Better Meal Delivery is designed to help nonprofit meal delivery programs manage important client, volunteer, route, meal, billing, and reporting information securely.

We understand that meal delivery organizations are trusted with sensitive information, including client addresses, delivery notes, dietary needs, allergies, volunteer information, and billing-related data. Our technology approach is designed to protect that information while giving authorized staff, volunteers, and drivers access to the tools they need.

Secure Cloud-Based Platform

Better Meal Delivery is a cloud-based web application built using Microsoft cloud technologies. Our application and APIs are hosted using Microsoft Azure services, and our database is hosted using Microsoft SQL Server on Azure.

This gives organizations secure access to Better Meal Delivery from approved devices and locations without needing to install or maintain local software.

Data Stored in Your Country

We store customer data in the country where the nonprofit operates.

Canadian customer data is stored in Canada.
U.S. customer data is stored in the United States.

This helps organizations meet internal expectations around data residency and provides confidence when reviewing software with leadership, boards, or funders.

Encryption and Secure Access

Better Meal Delivery protects data using secure web access and encryption technologies.

The Better Meal Delivery web application uses SSL encryption for information transmitted through the application. The database is encrypted using Microsoft Azure Transparent Data Encryption with AES 256 encryption.

Backups and Reliability

Database backups are stored using zone-redundant storage, which helps protect backup availability across multiple physical locations within the region.

This provides added protection in the event of a data centre issue and supports recovery if needed.

Role-Based User Access

Better Meal Delivery supports role-based access so organizations can control what different users can see and do.

Access levels are available for different types of users, including administrators, billing users, meal program staff, kitchen program users, volunteer program users, and volunteer access.

This helps ensure staff, volunteers, and drivers only access the information appropriate for their role.

Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication can be enabled for Better Meal Delivery users. When enabled, users receive a verification code by email and must enter it before continuing into the application.

This provides an added layer of protection for user accounts.

User Account Protection

Better Meal Delivery includes account protection controls such as minimum password requirements, login activity tracking, password reset options, and account lockout after repeated invalid login attempts.

Administrators can manage user access and deactivate or update accounts when needed.

Ongoing Security Practices

We monitor for security updates and apply patches regularly. Access to backend resources is controlled, and database access is restricted to approved application connections.

Our goal is to provide a reliable and secure platform that supports the daily work of nonprofit meal delivery programs.
